A Gorgeous Practice
My best experiences of community recently have been through my drums. Last Sunday evening, our OCD practice was tremendous. We set the drums up at the edge of Meeks Park, outside the Orion Art Center, and played while people rode by on bicycles and downy ducklings waddled by to investigate on their way down to the water. There was a thunderstorm brewing overhead, but we stretched the practice out as long as we could before rushing the drums up to the porch when spatters of rain began to fall. While the rain came down then, we continued our practice on the porch with Luna drums and West African song. I'm hoping my fellow drummer Scott will post the video he captured of the 'porch practice' so that I can link to it here.
It was one of THOSE moments, you know? The ones that glimmer like jewels in the mind, long after.
